Myshkin Nikolay Konstantinovich

PhD thesis: The influence of electrical phenomena on the contact interaction of solids under boundary friction in conditions of selective transport (1976).

Doctoral thesis: Study of sliding electrical contacts during boundary lubrication and improvement of their frictional and electromechanical characteristics (1985).

Research interests: analysis of the topography and mechanical properties of surface layers, the mechanics and electrophysics of solid contacts, diagnostics of machine wear, and scientific instrumentation.

Nikolai Konstantinovich Myshkin is a distinguished expert in the fields of friction, wear, lubrication, materials science, mechanics, and the physics of solid contacts. The materials and lubricants developed under his guidance and direct involvement have been utilized across various industries, including transportation and space technology.

1971, he graduated from the Ivanovo Power Engineering Institute named after V.I. Lenin.

1972-1977, he pursued his Postgraduate studies at the Institute of Mechanics Problems of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

1977-2017  V.A. Belyi Metal and Polymer Research Institute, Belarus: Junior and Senior Researcher, Chief Researcher, Head of Laboratory, and Director.

1986-1992 – Professor, Sukhoi Technical University of Gomel.

2015-2016 – Chairman of the Presidium of the Gomel Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Together with his colleagues and students, he has published over 300 scientific papers, including 20 monographs and more than 70 inventions and patents.

Vice-President of the International Tribological Council

A member of the Tribology Committee of the International Federation of Machinery and Mechanisms (IFToMM).

Member of editorial boards of several journals, including Tribology Letters, Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, International Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Mechanics of Machines, Mechanisms and Materials, editor-in-chief Polymer Materials and Technologies.

Awards:

Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol prize for science and technology (1982), the Prize from the Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Best Scientific Work (1993), the Prize of the Russian Government for Science and Technology for research (2004), the Prize from the National Academy of Sciences (2011).

He was awarded the Francis Skaryna Medal in 2014.
