New geological and geophysical arguments are obtained and reviewed on which a new model of geological structure of the Earth’s crust along the profile «Batolit-1» through the neighboring part of the NepskoPeleduyskiy arch and adjoining western segment of Nyuysko-Dzherbinskiy basin in the south-west of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is constructed. Aulacogen nature of the base set and the ability to expand its boundaries and the nature of suture interface with Baikal-Patomskiy fold region are argued. To check the model it is recommended to drill appraisal wells.
A new view of the stratigraphic subdivision and correlation of Upper Paleozoic rocks is presented. It is based on summarizing the available data on the most representative key sections of different parts of the eastern Siberian platform and on the analysis of the new data about individual Carboniferous and Permian sections obtained in the course of drilling within the limits of buried geodepressions promising for discovery of concentrated hydrocarbons, kaustobiolites and diamond bedrocks. The appraisal of the age and strati-graphic volume of the studied interval was correlated with general and regional stratigraphic scales. A new geologic entity of Lower-Middle Permian age – «the Syngdzher Series» is delineated.
Diversity of the material composition of basites from Middlepaleozoic rifts is specified by geodynamic regime. The majority of dikes of sub-alkali dolerites is formed in extension regime. The bodies of alkali plagiodolerites are localized during compensating compression at the rift flanks. In the deep-seated intermediate magmatic chambers, anorthosite and monzonite trends of tholeiite melt differentiation are realized during long-term system closing.
A characteristic of ultramafic, mafic and Salic magmatic formations with coloured gemstone is given. Each formation is described with regard to its tectonic position, distribution area, complex of breeds, chemical composition, paragenesis of minerals, main coloured gemstones and deposits.
Conditions of the existence of great potential of hydromineral raw material in Yakutia represented by mineral, therapeutic and industrial waters are considered. Groundwater composition, its specific features, possibility of applying various brine types for recovery of definite chemical elements and balneological purposes are investigated. Within individual cryohydrogeological structures of sedimentary cover the reserves of industrial waters are assessed, which are profitable for extraction simultaneously with diamond mining when developing deposits, or as attendant drainage on oil-and-gas fields without significant damage to environment.
The analysis of long-term dynamics of icing development in the Lokuuchakit River basin during the period 1984-2004 is presented. The main patterns in interannual variability of icing growth are revealed. The effects of basic climatic factors on the icing growth are estimated. The analysis of the observation data shows that the volume of a growing icing has no correlation with precipitation of the previous hydrological year or seasonal air freezing index.
The geochemical investigation of humito-sapropelytes of the Upper Liasic deposits of Viluy syncline is car-ried out. Catagenesis transformations of organic matter was detected at MK1 gradation. The organic matter of studied samples did not reach the main stage of oil generation. The value of oil migration coefficient equals about 0,47-0,50 for MK1 stage, volume density of emigrated oil mass is 50·104t/km3.
The paper considers the characteristics of the rheological behavior and the level of oil displacement of solutions with different concentrations of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) in reservoirs with low layer temperatures and high mineralization of the formation water. It is showed that the investigated solutions based on Na-CMC of 5 and 7 g/l have high values of oil recovery and can be recom-mended for a practical usage.
The purpose, size and internal structure of extended (swollen) area of the spine in pelvis part of Stegosaurus (herbivorous dinosaur) are substantiated. It is supposed that besides glycogen (carbohydrate derivative) there was an organ in it making locomotion. We explained rarely seen color (brown), preserved in the the fossil material for a long time in places, where blood vessels of the animal were located.

Researches of new territories of Western Yakutia connected with intensive development of oil and gas fields allow to reveal new earlier unknown types of soils. At the same time large-scale mining works cause destruction and pollution of natural ecosystems. The presented materials expand knowledge of environment of Yakutia and allow to form a basis for the subsequent environmental monitoring of transformations of the environment in cryolithozone.
Investigations of adsorption properties of natural zeolites of the deposit Khongurоu and their modified forms are carried out. The possibility of using zeolites of the deposit Khongurоu as sorbents of oil and oil products and for effective cleaning of oil-contaminated waters is shown experimentally.
The results of research on the typology of lands on the valley of the river Viluyi for agricultural purposes. In isolated agro ecosystems logical groups of land identified the key indicators, defining the use of them.
It is shown that under the influence of acute presowing γ-radiation on seeds of three grades of wheat anti-oxidant potential of cells increases in reciprocally-compensation manner between low-molecular and enzy-matic antioxidants seedlings. It was found that the radiosensitivity of studied grades of wheat depends on an-tioxidant state of seedlings, as well as it was identified the grades specific characteristics.
The results of the study of chemical composition and energy value of lichen of Oymyakon region of Yakutia - the North Pole are presented. It is established that the lichen has a high nutritional value and promotes providing a deer’s organism with nutrients during the winter period.
The data of investigation of flora of spore plants of Muosany Lake which is a deep-water lake of the ero-sion-karst origin are presented. The algae flora totals 54 species including 3 varieties, the lichen flora numbers 27 species, and the moss flora totals 18 species. According to the scale of trophicity the lake is oligotrophic.
The flora of vascular plants around Lake Muosany, a deep-water pond of an erosive-karst origin is examined. Resulting from the inventory of the flora growing in the vicinity of the lake 100 species from 78 genera and 38 families were found. By its diversity and species richness the lake’s flora is considered as poor.
It is shown that the most important paleogeographical factor of the settling of freshwater fish in the northeastern part of Yakutia were large late Cenozoic fluctuations of sea level, which revealed the adjacent shelf areas with occurrence of ancient river systems on them. In the southern part on the contrary the decisive significance belonged to tectonically caused interceptions of adjacent upper parts of rivers and changes of their drain directions. A new reconstruction of formation history of freshwater fish fauna of Yakutia on the basis of synthesis of biogeographical and paleogeographical data is offered.
The major characteristics of ecology of the root vole inhabiting the Indigirka River Valley have been examined. The capture was performed in snow-free seasons during five years in the middle and lower reaches of the Indigirka River. The total of more than 11900 cone-days and 25200 trap-days has been analyzed and 938 specimens of the species have been collected. The root vole was found to reach the highest abu ndance levels in the lower reaches, where it populates a wide range of biotopes, being dominant in the floodplain and penetrating into adjacent strips of taiga landscapes. In island communities the species is an indisputable dominant that constitutes more than 60% of their population; in the parts of the floodplain, adjacent to terraces, about 30%. The adaptations to the conditions of the northern periphery of the ge ographic range are reflected in the increased body size, greater sexual dimorphism, higher individual fertility. We registered a greater than threefold fluctuation in abundance levels. The magnitude of population growth is governed mainly by the duration of the reproductive season and the degree of juvenile participation in reproduction.
A review of state and development prospects of fodder production in conditions of Yakutia’s cryolithozone is given. A progressive method of natural cold usage as a way of green cryofodder stocking up is considered. On the content of carotene the cryofodder is over than coarse fodder nearly 20 times. It is a positive factor for physiological condition of animals especially during winter stall keeping.
The dynamics of body temperature of four horses of the yakutian breed and a mongrelized one was under observation over a year. Thoroughbred yakutian horses demonstrate high tolerance of the body temperature during the annual life cycle. Unlike the mongrelized horse in winter period the body temperature of the yakutian horses is very stable and keeps at enough high level. For thoroughbred animals the lowest body temperatures are noted in May and September (31.50–33.5оC). The lowest mean daily body temperatures were recorded in September-October. During the winter colds the body temperature was stable and even slightly higher than in summer and autumn months.
